The Transformative Seminar is the biweekly forum for interdisciplinary exchange on transformation history and transformation studies at the Research Center for the History of Transformations (RECET). We invite distinguished scholars of different career levels to discuss their current work on European and global transformations, past and present, in the stimulating academic environment of the University of Vienna.

Is the era of neoliberal globalism over? In his talk, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Quinn Slobodian (Wellesley College) will consider the history and current state of global capitalist governance and ask what directions it may take in the future.

Quinn Slobodian is a historian of modern German and international history with a focus on North-South politics, social movements, and the intellectual history of neoliberalism. His most recent book is "Globalists: The End of Empire and the Birth of Neoliberalism" (Harvard University Press, 2018). He is also the author of "Foreign Front: Third World Politics in Sixties West Germany" (Duke University Press, 2012) and the editor of "Comrades of Color: East Germany in the Cold War World" (Berghahn Books, 2015).
